Future Skills at the IBB Enters a New Phase of GOVPET Funding

Gruppen der "GOVPET" Mitarbeitenden 2019

The Leading House GOVPET – Governance in Vocational and Professional Education and Training, funded by the State Secretariat for Education, Research, and Innovation (SERI), will receive CHF 2.4 million in funding for another five years. Under the co-leadership of Prof. Dr. Patrick Emmenegger of the University of St. Gallen and Prof. Dr. Giuliano Bonoli of the University of Lausanne, GOVPET investigates how vocational education and training systems can respond to digital, ecological, and societal transformation processes.

Since 2015, GOVPET has been researching the governance of collectively organized vocational training systems. In the third funding phase, the focus is on continuing education and reskilling, the appeal of vocational training, the governance of the “twin transition,” the response of associations and companies to transformation, the recognition of skills, and microcredentials, among other topics.

The Future Skills Lab at the Institute for Educational Management and Technologies (IBB-HSG) is contributing to this new phase with its expertise in future-oriented skills, digital transformation, AI-related competency requirements, and innovative forms of skills development. This strengthens an important link between vocational education research, educational management, and educational technologies.

This collaboration helps to advance the development of competencies in vocational education and training in a future-oriented manner and to make research findings accessible to educational practitioners, organizations, and policymakers.
